JINHAI LAKE RESIDENCE

DNA A+D was invited to design a luxury villa for an exclusive residential development in China. Located approximately 88 kilometers east of Beijing, Jinhai Lake is known for its scenic beauty and yearly kite and dragon boat festivals, which draw visitors from all over China. The design for the villa originates from a typological study of the siheuyan, a traditional Chinese courtyard dwelling. The residence is organized on two levels; an upper level for public functions and a private lower level. Interior spaces are organized around a series of courtyards, four courtyards on the main level and a single central courtyard on the lower. The main level contains both casual and formal living areas, and access to an outdoor terrace and swimming pool. The lower level contains bedrooms, media room, and home office surrounding the lower courtyard.
